Navy Releases Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement

The U.S. Navy released the draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Study (SEIS) on friday, February 23, 2007.

Public comment period which includes both public hearings and written comments will be for 60 days ending on April 24, 2007.
The Navy has requested to reserve dates below for public hearings:

Opening information session: 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Formal public hearing: 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Tuesday, March 20, 2007 Windsor - Bertie High School
Wednesday, March 21, 2007 Hertford - Perquimans County High School
Thursday, March 22, 2007 New Bern - Craven County Community College

Wednesday, April 4, 2007 Plymouth - Vernon James Research Center

Climate Change Program by Dr. Stan Riggs

On Saturday, February 24th, Dr. Stan Riggs will be making a presentation on Global Climate Change for the Great Decisions Program at ECU. The program will run from 10:00 am to 12:00 am and will be held in the auditorium at the Rivers West Building on the ECU Campus in Greenville. Full time students may attend the program for free but there is a $10 change for non students.

February Cypress Group Sierra Club Meeting

The February program on Monday, February 12, 2007, 7:30 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Congretation, 131 Oakmont Drive, Greenville, NC will feature a "North Carolina Update" presented by Tom Jenson, Conservation Coordinator, Sierra Club Staff, Christa Wagner, Government Affairs Coordinator, Sierra Club Staff, and Aaron Seyfreid, Senior, DH Conley High School. We will look beyond our local area and learn more about the issues that are important throughout our state.
